Making Your First Skydive What are the Options? The Malone Parachute Club offers a wonderful way for a first time jumper to experience the thrill of skydiving. Students MUST make a tandem skydive FIRST as an introduction to the sport of skydiving. From there they will continue on with a static-line progession course with the ultimate goal of becoming a licensed skydiver Read below to learn about the Malone Parachute Club First Jump Courses. Tandem - $210.00* Tandem jumps offer you the ability to experience all the thrills of skydiving as a wonderful way to be introduced to the sport of skydiving in a safe and informative way. With a pre-jump briefing on equipment and jumping procedures you will be in the sky before you know it. Next you will ride in our aircraft all the way to 11,500 ft. Safely attached to your tandem master, you exit the aircraft over the dropzone, and you and your tandem master freefall together. Forty seconds later, you deploy your parachute and enjoy a beautiful canopy flight, making thrilling turns through the sky, for approximately five minutes, allowing you to enjoy the incredible view. Our landing area is located in front of the Malone Parachute Club’s main hanger, which allows your friends and family to witness your entire jump–starting with gearing up for the jump, climbing aboard our aircraft, and gently landing with a very big smile on your face! The emphasis for your first jump will be basic skydiving principles, equipment familiarity and jump procedures. For your safety, you must be at least 18 years old to make a tandem skydive. No reservations are needed. Tandems are first-come-first-served, so come early! Some weight restrictions may apply, please inquire. *$10 discount ($200/tandem) if payment is made with cash. Static-Line - $100.00 The Static-line Jump Course is a great training method for those that plan to progress in the sport of skydiving after making their first tandem. This course is ONLY offered on Sundays. After a 4 to 6 hour class with a certified instructor, you will have the skills necessary to exit the aircraft and land safely all on your own. Though actual freefall time is limited on static-line jumps, they pave the way, building the knowledge base and skills you need, to be freefalling on your own in as little as six jumps. With this jump, the plane climbs to a standard altitude of 3,500 ft. From this altitude, as you exit the aircraft, your main canopy is automatically activated by a static-line (a 15’ cord attached to the plane). Under canopy, you can enjoy a beautiful, four-minute canopy flight, making thrilling turns through the sky, guided all the way to the ground via radio commands. For your safety, you must be at least 18 years old to make a static-line jump. No reservations are needed. Students should plan to arrive at 9:00 am to fill out the paperwork necessary for the class. Come dressed in comfortable clothes and sneakers or boots. The course begins promptly at 9:30 am. Sundays ONLY. NOTE: All static line students must have made a tandem with us FIRST, prior to taking the class. What about the weather? As with all jumps, student jumps are dependent on the weather. Low clouds and high winds can prevent jumping. Our suggestion: pick a date to jump and stick with it. Forcasts are frequently wrong and weather changes quickly. Much of the training can happen on the ground, allowing you to return another day and get into the air fairly quickly Methods of payment: We accept cash, personal checks or credit cards. Be sure to inquire about gift certificates and student training progression/licensure packages. What Others are Saying
"I brought up a group from Plattsburgh State University, and we all had a blast. From this experience we have started a club, and will be jumping out of Malone on a regular basis. Thanks guys, we appreciate your services." -Bert Jefferson, Plattsburgh, NY "Malone Parachuting club was excellent. I just jumped there with a few friends, and I'm planning on coming back to complete the static line progression program. The instructor was VERY cool (thanks Dave!), and everyone else was really nice. From the minute we showed up, I got very positive vibes from the place. I give you guys two thumbs way up. Keep up the good work!" -Bill Rushford, Potsdam, NY "I brought a group of students from my college to the Malone Parachute Club to do a skydive. I was going to do it just one time... from the second I left the plane I knew I was interested in jumping.....once I spent time at the dropzone with the friendly people, and the interest of the more experienced skydivers in my jumps as a student, completed my interest in the whole concept of skydiving. There is more to skydiving than just jumping out of planes, it is a relationship with a diverse group of individuals who care and respect each other. This is what you find at the Malone Parachute Club, every single weekend." -Amanda Little, Clarkson University, NY | Jump Prices* | | Tandem | $210.00 or $200.00/cash | | 2nd Tandem within same season, same person | $100.00 | | Static-line course (jump included)(Course ONLY offered on Sundays) | $100.00 | | Static-line course within same season of tandem (jump included) | $100.00 | | Subsequent static-line jumps | $50/each** | | 1st student freefall after minimum 5 S/L jumps | Free!***** | | Student Freefall | $50/each, gear included | | S/L or Freefall Retrain (After 3 months of not jumping, jump included) | $90**** | | Licensed jumper freefall w/ MPC gear | $45/each | | Licensed jumper freefall w/ own gear | $9 plus altitude*** (11,500ft. $20.00) | | "Platinum Level*" jump rates.
